This morning (Friday December 1st 2023) Donnie Nelson the current Director of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has notified the board of directors for the NIAA that he will resign from his position June 1st 2024. Donnie Nelson was hired from the interim role in April of 2022 but has worked for the NIAA and served Nevada Athletics for multiple decades. He said he notified the board of his resignation in advance to "give them time to find a successor."
We interviewed Donnie as we have done the past two seasons to get a state of the NIAA back in August and in the podcast attached he expressed optimism but was honest in stating that their were many challenges that faced the NIAA that he hoped with community help the NIAA could possibly tackle.
