Week Two Football Predictions

Damonte Ranch Mustangs Vs. Granite Bay Grizzlies

Granite Bay last season lost to Damonte Ranch with a score of 28 to 0 this season expect a similar result but in a different way this time around. The Mustangs last season against the Grizzlies passed for 277 yards while rushing for 156 yards. I wouldn't be shocked if the Mustangs revert to their running roots and flip the numbers from last season. The Mustang's defense in my opinion will be stout this year. The Grizzlies recently graduated over 20 seniors from last season and will have less talent overall this year. I have full faith the Mustangs come out of this one with a win.

Question / Comment of the game: Who will score more TDs in this game Ashton Hayes or Carson Smith?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): Damonte Ranch 35-14

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Damonte Ranch 35-21

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): Granite Bay 35-20

Bishop Manogue Miners Vs. Desert Pines Jaguars

55 yards, that's all that QB Drew Scolari passed for last season when facing Desert Pines at home. The Jaguars graduated just ten players, but the Miners return a majority of the team that faced Desert Pines last year. This week I have already seen the Jaguar fan base claiming that this is "not even a game" or even going as far as "it will be a quiet ride home (for the Miners)." I think this is a significant moment in Drew Scolari's high school career and I believe in the depth the Miners offer in this matchup.

Question / Comment of the game: (I hope it doesn't but…) I could see some players getting penalized and some confrontation before this game is over with the amount of buildup you see for this matchup this will have some heated moments?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): Bishop Manogue 35-31

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Bishop Manogue 28-27

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): Desert Pines 28-17

Wooster Colts Vs. Reno Huskies

As the program continues to rebuild the Colts will look to try and improve defensively after a lackluster week one performance. Meanwhile, the Huskies put up a terrific performance against North Valleys last week and should continue under first-year head coach Jon Haskins. The Reno Huskies defense put up phenomenal numbers last week and should continue to do so in this game.

Question / Comment of the game: This game could get out of hand quickly, but how will the Colts respond in the second half when all hope is lost… will they look to gain momentum going into next week or will they continue to struggle?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): Reno 56-7

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Reno 48-17

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): Reno 45-7

Hug Hawks Vs. Douglas Tigers

The Tigers come off a massive win versus Sonoma Valley last week and should have some good momentum starting the season after playing the Hawks. Hug is a team that is showing future promise under new head coach Mike Gravier but will need a few years building a program to turn the page. The Hawks will travel down to Minden, and the Tigers will want to prove their worth in the North with a commanding win against Hug.

Question / Comment of the game: (I will be traveling to this game…) I hope to see the Tigers Trevor Kruger who put up huge numbers last week?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): Douglas 49-0

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Douglas 51-0

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): Douglas 42-7

McQueen Lancers Vs. Del Campo Cougars

I will be candid this game is more about me having faith in McQueen's Football Program and rankings than anything else. The Lancers beat Del Campo, 27 to 13 last season at home but this time the game will be played in Fair Oaks, CA. This game will be the first game McQueen has this season, and it should be a good one.

Question / Comment of the game: Who will step up in the first game and be the star for McQueen?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): McQueen 28-27

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Del Campo 28-21

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): McQueen 28-24

Spanish Springs Cougars Vs. Monterey Trail Mustangs

The Cougars before the season start had high expectations placed on their shoulders, and last week was not a good first step in achieving those expectations. Last week Spanish Springs lost after 21 unanswered points were scored on them late by the Canyon Comanches. Monterey Trail is a better team than Canyon, and after the collapse last week I think Spanish Springs will have a tough time coming out with the win. I want to add that I would love to see the Cougars get the W, but I don't see it happening against this caliber of an opponent.

Question / Comment of the game: How will the Cougars play after last week's collapse, that is the ultimate question?

Michael's Prediction (BBP Chief Content Officer): Monterey Trail 35-28

Jim's Prediction (RGJ Preps): Spanish Springs 31-30

Brady's Prediction (BBP Owner): Monterey Trail 28-24
