Week 7 Previews and Predictions

September 29, 2023

Today we release our previews and predictions for this week's slate of games. Lynn and I provide some insight into these games on the schedule for last night and tonight. Thanks as always for checking out our work here at Battle Born Preps. Have a great evening.

Sep. 28

Galena at North Valleys

Lynn Ault's Thoughts: Both of these teams come into this game on multi-game losing streaks. The Panthers have lost their last four games and the Grizzlies have lost their last five games. Someone will get a new lease on their season this evening. The Grizzlies have been decimated by injuries and struggled because of it the last few weeks. If the Grizz can establish the run game and open up their passing game, they will be able to take some shots downfield. Galena's physicality should carry them to victory.

Lynn Ault: Galena 27, North Valleys 13

J. Ray Dockter: Galena 35, North Valleys 34

Brady Raggio: Galena

Michael Reeves: Galena 35, North Valleys 21

Damonte Ranch at Spanish Springs

Lynn Ault's Thoughts: This should be a good game; the Cougars have played a rigorous non-conference schedule and were done no favors last week when they opened up league play with a 38-6 loss at Bishop Manogue. The Mustangs come into this game with confidence having won a slugfest against Reno last week.

Lynn Ault: Damonte Ranch 23, Spanish Springs 21

J. Ray Dockter: Spanish Springs 21, Damonte Ranch 20

Brady Raggio: Spanish Springs

Michael Reeves: Spanish Springs 24, Damonte Ranch 21

Bishop Manogue at McQueen

Lynn Ault's Thoughts: The Miners struck gold last week in their 38-6 victory against the Cougars of Spanish Springs. The Miners have the ability to punish you with their ground game or go over the top through the air and do damage in chunks. McQueen comes into this game having suffered a tough 42-7 defeat last week against Reed. McQueen has home field tonight, but I don't think Manogue will be dissuaded from getting redemption from the last time they played at Ken Dalton Field.

Lynn Ault: Bishop Manogue 49, McQueen 13

J. Ray Dockter: Bishop Manogue 45, McQueen 14

Brady Raggio: Bishop Manogue

Michael Reeves: Bishop Manogue 42, McQueen 7

Reed at Reno

Lynn's Thoughts: Reed is tough, balanced and hungry to prove that they can win the North this year. The Huskies have a potent running game with two legit RB1's on their roster. They also have a defense that loves to hit. Is this the year that the Raiders reclaim their first regional championship since 2017? Tonight, will go a long way toward proving that to be true.

Lynn Ault: Reed 31, Reno 21

J. Ray Dockter: Reed 38, Reno 20

Brady Raggio: Reed

Michael Reeves: Reed 35, Reno 28

Hug at Douglas

Lynn's Thoughts: Douglas is a formidable team in Northern Nevada and would be competitive in the Northern 5A D-II this season. Hug has struggled this season, only winning against Sparks this season, this could be a long night for the Hawks.

Lynn Ault: Douglas 47, Hug 7

J. Ray Dockter: Douglas 34, Hug 0

Brady Raggio: Douglas

Michael Reeves: Douglas 42, Hug 7

Wooster at Carson

Doc's Thoughts: Wooster narrowly escaped last week with a 14-13 win against North Valleys and Carson beat Hug 17-0 on the road during a short week, so I think that Carson has the edge in this one. Lynn A believes that Wooster steals one in the capital city tonight.

Lynn Ault: Wooster 27, Carson 21

J. Ray Dockter: Carson 21, Wooster 20

Brady Raggio: Carson

Michael Reeves: Wooster 28, Carson 21

Truckee (Calif.) at Lowry (Winnemucca, Nev.)

Doc's Thoughts: Truckee will look to improve upon their 16-game winning streak and will have a Buckaroos team that has been depleted by injuries over the last few weeks standing in their way to move to 7-0 on the season. Look for RB Joe Birnbaum to continue to put up impressive numbers tonight.

Lynn Ault: Truckee 44, Lowry 13

J. Ray Dockter: Truckee 34, Lowry 14

Brady Raggio: Truckee

Michael Reeves: Truckee 42, Lowry (Winnemucca, Nev.) 14

Fernley at Churchill County (Fallon, Nev.)

Doc's Thoughts: Two teams meeting that don't like each other, this will be a good one. The Greenwave are coming off a tough loss last week against Truckee, 35-22 and the Vaqueros were able to get their offense rolling to the tune of a 42-0 homecoming victory over the South Tahoe Vikings a week after losing to Truckee by single digits. Does Fernley have what it takes to spring the upset over what should be a motivated Churchill County squad tonight?!? Only time will tell...

Lynn Ault: Churchill County 28, Fernley 21

J. Ray Dockter: Fernley 21, Churchill County 20

Brady Raggio: Churchill County

Michael Reeves: Churchill County

Elko at Sparks

Elko has been on a roll as of late, winning three in a row after starting the season 0-2. The Indians shutout Lowry 42-0 last week and should have no problem racking up points against the Railroaders.

Lynn Ault: Elko 45, Sparks 13

J. Ray Dockter: Elko 42, Sparks 0

Brady Raggio: Elko

Michael Reeves: Elko 24, Sparks 14
