Week 5 Previews and Predictions

Today we release our previews and predictions for this week's slate of games. Lynn and Myself provide some insight into these games and as always thanks for checking in and have a great evening.

Sep. 14

Reed at Douglas

Lynn Ault's Thoughts: Douglas is the surprise team in Northern Nevada. The last two seasons they have won only two games, which means that at the halfway point in the season they have already doubled their win total from the '21 and '22 seasons. Questions remained for the Tigers prior to their game at Damonte Ranch, largely based off strength of schedule, but their win at Damonte Ranch last week should go a long way.

Lynn Ault: Reed 31, Douglas 21

J. Ray Dockter: Douglas 24, Reed 21

Brady Raggio: Reed

Michael Reeves: Douglas 28, Reed 24

Sep. 15

Churchill County (Fallon, Nev.) at Sparks

Doc's Thoughts: The Greenwave come into this one on a two-game winning streak and should have no problem beating up the Railroaders at home.

Lynn Ault: Churchill County 37, Sparks 13

J. Ray Dockter: Churchill County 42, Sparks 0

Brady Raggio: Churchill County

Michael Reeves: Churchill County 42, Sparks 7

Bishop Manogue at Carson

Lynn's Thoughts: The Miners got their first win of the season last week. Carson last defeated Manogue in 2016 by a score of 33-6. The Miners should push their winning streak to two games on the season.

Lynn Ault: Bishop Manogue 54, Carson 7

J. Ray Dockter: Bishop Manogue 56, Carson 0

Brady Raggio: Bishop Manogue

Michael Reeves: Bishop Manogue 51, Carson 7

Damonte Ranch at Galena

Doc's Thoughts: The Battle of The Cross Saw!!! Galena is on a three-game skid and Damonte Ranch is on a two-game skid. One of these teams will get back on track in the early season, and have good vibes headed into the league season. For more info on this game check out Lynn Ault's preview of it on our website.

Lynn Ault: Damonte Ranch 24, Galena 20

J. Ray Dockter: Damonte Ranch 28, Galena 27

Brady Raggio: Galena

Michael Reeves: Galena 28, Damonte Ranch 27

Elko at South Tahoe (Lake Tahoe, Calif.)

Doc's Thoughts: The Indians should win this game by no less than three scores. They seem to have found a rhythm offensively in their defeat of the Fernley Vaqueros and I don't know if the Vikings have an identity just yet.

Lynn Ault: Elko 27, South Tahoe 13

J. Ray Dockter: Elko 34, South Tahoe 0

Brady Raggio: Elko

Michael Reeves: Elko 7, South Tahoe 7

Fernley at Truckee (Calif.)

Doc's Thoughts: Truckee pushed their winning streak to 13 games with their win over Spring Creek last week. It is the fourth longest streak in school history. Fernley won the last matchup 35-34, in 2021 and these two teams are typically in the fight at the end of the season every year in the Northern 3A. Fernley will be trying to make a statement with their performance this evening.

Lynn Ault: Truckee 45, Fernley 10

J. Ray Dockter: Truckee 34, Fernley 28

Brady Raggio: Truckee (Calif.)

MIchael Reeves: Truckee 48, Fernley 10

McQueen at Hug

Lynn's Thoughts: A battle of 1-3 teams headed in opposite directions, they share a boundary (zoning) line, and are only minutes apart on McCarran. The Lancers had the most difficult, brutal non-conference schedule and picked up their first win of the season last week, defeating Carson 41-3. Hug comes in reeling on the heels of a 44-0 loss against Reed.

Lynn Ault: McQueen 49, Hug 13

J. Ray Dockter: McQueen 48, Hug 0

Brady Raggio: McQueen

Michael Reeves: McQueen 35, Hug 7

Spring Creek at Lowry (Winnemucca, Nev.)

Doc's Thoughts: Spring Creek is going to win this game. I was able to get eyes on the Spartans last week and man did I come away impressed. They seem to be figuring out what they want to be offensively and put their first points on the board last week against defending State Champions Truckee. QB Austin Reasbeck ran for 188 yards (Unofficially) and a touchdown while doing his best Kyler Murray impression, scrambling out of would be tacklers on seemingly every play. Reasbeck was also responsible for a passing touchdown. Lowry defeated Sparks by 20 points at home but should not take the Spartans lightly.

Lynn Ault: Lowry 35, Spring Creek 28

J. Ray Dockter: Spring Creek 35, Lowry 34

Brady Raggio: Lowry

Michael Reeves: Lowry 28, Spring Creek 24

Spanish Springs at North Valleys

Lynn's Thoughts: Spanish Springs played a very diifficult non-conference and are looking to build a winning streak after defeating Wooster 44-7. North Valleys is headed in the opposite direction, 1-2, coming off a 40-0 loss to Reno HS. Spanish Springs offense is getting on track and will put up points on the board, quickly at times.

Lynn Ault: Spanish Springs 52, North Valleys 7

J. Ray Dockter: Spanish Springs 34, North Valleys 10

Brady Raggio: Spanish Springs

Michael Reeves: Spanish Springs 42, North Valleys 7

Reno at Wooster

Lynn's Thoughts: The Colts host the Huskies in a rivalry renewed, how many times have these teams played over the years? How many league titles were decided in this matchup over the years here in Northern Nevada? The Colts are looking to get back on track and build their own legacy of those glory years while the Huskies will be looking to build off last year's playoff run and 40-0 shutout victory against North Valleys last week.

Lynn Ault: Reno 47, Wooster 9

J. Ray Dockter: Reno 38, Wooster 10

Brady Raggio: Reno

Michael Reeves: Reno 42, Wooster 14
