Week 4 Previews and Predictions

Bishop Manogue Miners (2-1) @ Pittsburg Pirates (1-0)

Lynn's Thoughts: The Miners are taking on a CA powerhouse, the Pittsburgh Pirates (not to be confused with the MLB team); 2023 league champs who fell to Folsom by 3 points in their CIF Division Championship game. Manogue makes the trip into the Bay Area and as much as I want see them come home with the win, I just don’t see it happening, Pittsburgh is better than Rocklin who beat Manogue last week.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Pittsburg 45-10

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Pittsburgh 45-20

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Pittsburg

Michael Reeves Prediction: Pittsburg 35-28

Douglas Tigers (2-1) @ North Valleys Panthers (2-1)

Lynn's Thoughts: Douglas has played three close games this season while going 2-1; the Panthers have won big, or lost big. I feel like this one will be close, but in the end the Tigers will head home with the win.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Douglas 31-30

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Douglas 34-31

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Douglas

Michael Reeves Prediction: Douglas 21-7

McQueen Lancers (2-1) @ Carson Senators (2-1)

Lynn's Thoughts: I love this matchup! Carson is giving 2015 vibes when they went 10-2 while McQueen comes in with two big wins and a close lose to an out-of-state foe, Union Mine. The Carson crowd will be amped and I believe they’ll go home happy, winning a close one.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: McQueen 35-34

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Carson 28-25

Brady Raggio's Prediction: McQueen

Michael Reeves Prediction: Carson 21-14

Reed Raiders (2-1) @ Hug Hawks (0-3)

Lynn's Thoughts: Tough matchup for a struggling Hug squad.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Reed 55-10

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Reed 63-7

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Reed

Michael Reeves Prediction: Reed 72-0

Galena Grizzlies (2-1) @ Reno Huskies (1-1)

Lynn's Thoughts: The. Game. Of. The. Week. Both sides are talking and believe they have the advantage. Both sides come in after a loss, but I think the Grizzlies get the win here.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Reno 28-27

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Galena 24-23

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Reno

Michael Reeves Prediction: Reno 24-21

Spanish Springs Cougars (1-2) @ Wooster Colts (1-2)

Lynn's Thoughts: Cougars come in after an impressive shutout win while Wooster looks to rebound after a tough loss in Fernley. I fear the Colts will continue looking for the rebound, Spanish Springs get the win this week.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Spanish Springs 48-24

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Spanish Springs 52-13

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Spanish Springs

Michael Reeves Prediction: Spanish Springs 49-7

Fallon Greenwave (1-1) @ Damonte Ranch Mustangs (0-3)

Lynn's Thoughts: No one wanted to believe Damonte would be 0-3, but with two state champions and a highly ranked Las Vegas foe to start the season, it is not surprising. The Mustangs quarterback depth is being challenged, Branden Radoumis, filling in for the inured Joey Jamison, broke his collarbone in Las Vegas last week, so, will Joey Jamison be back or will the Mustangs throw a different look at the Greenwave? The Greenwave lost to Reed, but knocked off North Valleys, and come in 1-1. The Mustangs have their backs against the wall and I believe they rally, picking up their first win of the season this week.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Fallon 24-20

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Damonte Ranch 23-21

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Damonte Ranch

Michael Reeves Prediction: Fallon 28-14

4. Lynn Ault 17-24 (7-5)

Now for my thoughts on last weeks picks...

J. Ray Dockter: The Doc is doing well this season but a little slippage occurred this week and I am all for it. His worst pick of the week was for me believing in Foothill (Sacramento, CA.) to beat McQueen where the Lancers won 47-14. His best pick on the other hand was having Faith Lutheran beating Damonte Ranch he predicted 38-14 when in reality it was more decisive at 41-0.

Brady Raggio: Brady believed in Lowry... worst pick of the week... Need I say more. On a side note thanks for second place.

Lynn Ault: Lynn had a chance to gain some ground but had an OK week going 7-5 last week. I hope he has a little more faith in Fernley in the future (he predicted Wooster 27-19 vs. Fernley 67-0) and a little less (like the rest of us) in Clayton Valley who lost to Spanish Springs 17-0.

For me: Below are some quick thoughts on teams currently... (I am full of euphemisms and analogies today)

  • Bishop Manogue is good but right now they proved to not be "Rocklin good" they will have a tough opponent in Pittsburg. (Side note they are playing the Pittsburg Pirates what an interesting team name... sounds familiar, I wonder why)

  • The Raiders out of Sparks proved they can hang with any opponent. I think me predicting them at the 2 spot in Division Two seems spot on.

  • Douglas a team of destiny or mediocrity... the next month will tell us a lot. I believed all year and will continue to believe they can be competitive in Division Two.

  • McQueen is having a season that resembles found money in your pocket. I didn't expect much from them this season and with two wins on the board they have impressed me the question is did I just find a dollar in my pocket or is it a hundred league play will surely show us what the Lancers amount to.

  • Huskies I wanted to believe the offense was here to stay. I have far too often in years past discussed how Reno's defense carries Reno's offense.

  • The Cougars of Spanish Springs secured their first win in shutout fashion. Watch out I believe just maybe my comments on the podcast last week may have awoken a sleeping giant.

  • The Senators are fighting this season and were tied 7-7 late last week and I believe they have found something in their program this season.

  • Wooster can be summed up with the phrase more things change the more they stay the same. New players and a new year but the same results.

  • The horses out of South Reno have been gathered and relocated. I am mentally starting to wonder if I am talking about the BLM gatherings or the fans at Damonte Ranch's Friday games.
