Football Power Rankings

High School Sports is entering week three and is getting off to a great start. Some teams look good, some teams look not so good, and some teams even look great! Here are my week three power rankings for Battle Born Preps.

Number Five: The Reno Huskies

The Huskies have shown promise early in the season beating North Valleys in week one (40-0) than beating Wooster (28-7). Reno had two effortless wins but will face a Douglas team that also has two wins in as many weeks. This week will be a real test to see if the Huskies are contenders or pretenders as they face a Tiger team with a better run offense and overall defense than in years past.

Number Four: The Reed Raiders

The Raiders are coming off of a bye week and will be rested facing the Galena Grizzlies who have yet to play a game this year. Reed won their first game this season at home against the Wooster Colts (51-22). This week in our #BattleOfTheWeek we will see if the Raiders Offense can continue their high production from week one and also see if the team as a whole commits fewer penalties something we saw a ton of in week one. The Raiders are expected to win against the Grizzlies this week.

Number Three: The Damonte Ranch Mustangs

The Damonte Ranch Mustangs played their first game of the season last week traveling over the hill to Granite Bay, California. The Mustangs could not get the win against the Granite Bay Grizzlies (25-6) and will try to turn things around at home this week against another tough opponent in the Rocklin Thunder. Damonte Ranch needs to get their running attack going and see what kind of production they can get out of the passing game this season. Lynn Ault highlighted the game in his previous article and can be read here. Rocklin will be the favorite to win heading into this matchup as the Mustangs try to prevent going 0-2 for the first time since 2014.

Number Two: The Douglas Tigers

The Douglas Tigers head into week three focused after coming off of two very commanding wins to start the season (Sonoma Valley 53-18, Hug 63-14). Head Coach Ernie Monfiletto was excited to have two wins under his belt to start the season but understands Reno is a "very good team" and looks forward to the challenge this week. Last week I traveled down to Minden and saw a Tiger offense that new how to run the ball and a defense that was very quick to the ball as well which should help them against the Huskies. In my opinion, so early in the year this Tigers-Huskies matchup is a toss-up and could be one of the best games we will see this year.

Number One: The Bishop Manogue Miners

The Bishop Manogue Miners are 0-1 after a loss to the Desert Pines Jaguars down in Las Vegas but rank number one in our rankings due to the fact they still have the best roster and upside I see in the North. The Miners face off against the Oak Ridge Trojans this week, and while they will be coming off of a loss, I expect them to turn things around with second-year QB Drew Scolari leading the team. This week as they travel over the hill to play Oak Ridge, expect a big game from Drew Scolari, Zeke Lee, and the offensive line that the Miners have. This game should be a competitive one, but I give the Miners the edge
