DRFP 2019, By The Numbers

In honor of my wife, A'Laina (pictured below), math teacher and head of the math department at Damonte Ranch, here is a quick look at the Mustangs 2019 season, by the numbers.

2 – consensus media pick for where Damonte would finish in the Sierra League this year

4 – straight Sierra League Championships for Head Coach Shawn Dupris (pictured below with visor and clipboard) and the Mustangs

16 – consecutive Sierra League victories for the Mustangs

42 – average margin of victory of those 16 straight Sierra League games

24 – league points allowed by Damonte this season, fewest in the North, third lowest 4A total after Liberty and Gorman

6 – current state rank for Damonte, highest in the North


3.6 – sacks per game by the defense

2 – Christian Jamison (number nine in the photo below) is the second leading tackler in the State

36 – points per game for the offense this season

273 – rushing yards per game for the Mustangs

2094 – former single season rushing record set by Drew Smith (12 games)

2195 – rushing total for Ashton Hayes (pictured below) in 11 games, the new program record


2527 – total yards gained by Ashton Hayes this season, on the ground and as a receiver; top mark in the state for a non-quarterback

29 – number of touchdowns scored by Ashton Hayes this season, leads the State

1738 – yards through the air for Ethan Kulpin (pictured below) this season

11 – different players have caught a pass from Ethan Kulpin this season

311 – yards gained on the ground by Ethan Kulpin this season

5 – Nick Vargas has climbed to the 5th spot for receiving yardage in the state

7 – scheduled time for the kickoff Friday night when Damonte hosts the Reed Raiders in their second round 4A NIAA Northern playoff game
